Developing a mobile app for a tier 1 bank
Helping Brittain prosper.
Lloyds banking Group is the largest retail bank in the UK, with a mission to help Britain prosper.
The Challenge
Lloyds required a new journey within the app to provide functionality allowing customers to consolidate pensions with their Lloyds pension. I led the project to understand context, design the user journey, solution planning, creating a roadmap and overseeing development. The journey is now live, giving hundreds of thousands of customers with a Lloyds pension a digital route to consolidate their pensions.
The Process
- Complex enterprise stakeholder management across three businesses, many roles and dozens of people.
- Understood and evolved the business context through a month-long discovery, with workshops, interviews and co-creation.
- Created designs for the new app
- Developed and socialised the roadmap for delivery
- Oversaw the delivery process, organised the scrum team, provide feedback on product increments and led PI planning
- Ensured alignment with bank design, technical, non-functional and business requirements.
The Outcome
The journey is live and provides a new digital pathway to hundreds of thousands of Lloyds customers.
Our team demonstrated a new approach for mobile app development using react native for faster development.
Lloyds has gone on to become one of AND Digital’s biggest client.

The Pot C pension transfer journey was a great achievement and paves the way for a strong foundation for our future partnership.
Key takeaways
This was a great introduction to tier 1 banking. I learned a lot about what it takes to deliver in the complex, highly regulated enterprise environment that banks operate in.
